Atheist Society of Calgary Code of Conduct
We are an inclusive community of atheists, humanists, skeptics and secular free thinkers who welcome people of all backgrounds and identities.

We won't all agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behavior. Disagreements should be resolved in a constructive manner and without personal attacks. Challenge ideas not people.  Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behavior aren’t acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Violent threats or language directed against another person.
  • Discriminatory jokes and language.
  • Posting sexually explicit or violent material.
  • Posting (or threatening to post) other people’s personally identifying information (“doxing”).
  • Personal insults, especially those using racist or sexist terms.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
  • Repeated harassment of others. In general, if someone asks you to stop, then stop.

Atheist Society of Calgary Anti-Racism Policy
The Atheist Society of Calgary is a caring community, welcoming and respecting of diversity. We acknowledge that racism is dehumanizing to everyone it touches, that racism can be unconscious or unintentional, and that identifying racism as an issue does not automatically mean those involved in the act are racist or intended the negative impact. We also acknowledge that religions are not races and criticism of religion does not translate to criticism of race.
